Healthy Work Lifestyle

If you are seriously considering traveling overseas for a new career, then it's about time you consider what the typical work lifestyle is like for an expatriate.  No one particular job experience will be standard for all workers.  It largely depends on the company you work for as well as the country you reside in, not to mention the requirements of each position.  Are you healthy and capable of taking on a demanding new job?  If so, then working overseas can be an exciting and exhilarating experience for you.

Before you get started, you do have to consider what you bring to the job you are applying for. Have you researched the best job fields in other countries?  What countries in particular are best for your line of work?  Perhaps you have a specific skill that will be in high demand in some countries, but in low demand elsewhere.  You should ask yourself whether you want to follow your passion wherever it goes in the world (meaning you would like to travel to any exotic location and be ready to report back home at anytime) or, if you want to merely work in one particular country, taking whatever jobs happen to come along, or whatever jobs are currently in high-demand.  You can do both, though planning your moves is key for the most healthy work lifestyle..

Another important issue to consider is that of language.  Will you need to brush up on your Spanish or French, or perhaps learn another language altogether?  What is the nation's economy like?  How much will you earn, and are you taking into account price inflation or deflation?  One common problem is that some people move overseas and then price themselves out of their first country's nation, only to discover that they cannot even afford to move back home.  Some countries have work restrictions to adhere to, including specific information on visa and work permits.  Some countries have very stringent rules on taxes, while others may actually not tax you at all!

What about finding a home and maintaining a comfortable lifestyle?  Not only do you have to consider the cost of living, but you must also take time to search for real estate in that area.  Will you rent an apartment or a home?  Is it worth buying the property and what is the average sales price of a home cost in modern times?  These are all questions that merit your attention, though they should never deaden your excitement for a fantastic career overseas!
